Shop for Diesel Exhaust Fluid for Passenger Vehicles

Free Delivery! Diesel Exhaust Fluid and SCR technology in passenger vehicles, such as SUVs, pickups, camper vans and cars is now common place; with Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes Benz and Peugeot being the front runners in introducing this system to the passenger car market. GM / Opel, Ford, Toyota and Mazda also have models which use Diesel Exhaust Fluid, with other manufacturers following the trend.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid is used in conjunction with SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction) which is a system that cleans up the exhaust gas on your vehicle before it is emitted to the atmosphere. Manufacturers have had to reconfigure their exhaust systems to meet new regulations on the emission levels of nitrogen oxides as they have become stricter over the years.

What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid?

Diesel Exhaust Fluid is a liquid solution which is used in diesel vehicles with SCR technology. The SCR system is installed at the factory and is an ‘exhaust gas after treatment’ injection technology, which makes the vehicle more fuel efficient, and release less pollutants to the air.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid is:

  • Non toxic
  • Non hazardous
  • A high purity urea solution
  • Safe and easy to use

What makes Diesel Exhaust Fluid?

Synthetically produced urea and demineralised water are the main raw ingredients in Diesel Exhaust Fluid. This provides a clean and pure product. Synthetically produced urea is used in many day to day products such as cosmetics and moisturising creams. Download the Diesel Exhaust Fluid specification here.

How is Diesel Exhaust Fluid Used?

Diesel Exhaust Fluid is usually replenished during your service, but sometimes your Diesel Exhaust Fluid warning light will indicate that you need to refill beforehand. Running dry of Diesel Exhaust Fluid may cause your vehicle to operate in crawler mode (go slow). Refilling is easy, use clean Diesel Exhaust Fluid apparatus (ie don’t use oil or diesel funnels), take off the filler cap, pour until full. For smaller vehicles the tank cap is usually in the boot, under the carpet. Wipe up any spills as it can corrode some metals/paintwork. Read more on how to handle and store Diesel Exhaust Fluid.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid is ideally purchased from your Car/RV/Pickup truck dealership. However, it is also available at Truck stops, truck dealerships and Oil distributors who supply the truck industry. They may have Diesel Exhaust Fluid containers or pumps that passenger vehicles can use, but please investigate on arrival.
